There aren't all that many fantastical genre movies with a 19th century setting. I personally LOVE them so i'm always looking for something to get a "fix" on (I am a Star Wars, Star Trek, Avatar, Indiana Jones LOVER)......so if you like that type of movie I'd say YES - see it for sure. Good yarn and the film of the book does the book no FAVOURS!!! My advice is watch the film as it is quite good and then read the book and the 2 sequels.
